Looking back at over three years of the covid era we’ve written some 300 articles, dozens of research papers, and appeared in hundreds of videos, podcasts and interviews (and one of us has even been on a cruise!)
Now looks like a good time to pull all of this material together. Hence, we’ve been discussing the idea of producing a book based on the articles contained in this substack.
The obvious question that came up in our discussion was whether there was any demand for a book. Whilst there are lots of good (well, let’s be honest “amazing”) books about the covid era we don’t see ourselves writing another over-arching narrative of events, characters and plot lines. Instead, we are modestly proposing writing a book on the numbers underpinning our research work and exposing many of the scientific and statistical illusions, tricks and ‘paradoxes’ that created the covid ‘pandemic’.
We thought a suitable title might be something pithy like “Where Are the Numbers?” Sound familiar? It would address questions relating to key numbers we have covered:
How lethal was the virus?
How inaccurate were the models Governments relied on?
Was there a pandemic of infections or a pandemic of testing?
How inaccurate was the PCR testing?
How safe and effective were the vaccines?
What statistical chicanery was needed to create a ‘pandemic’?
How were we censored?
What role did media bias play?
Did covid really kill the flu?
We don’t expect to provide the final or a comprehensive word on any of the questions, but instead want to join the dots between the evidence, models and arguments that have directly involved us, just as we have been doing for over three years.
One thing we are conscious of is that the electronic word is ephemeral and so might not be around forever, is always subject to the danger of censorship or might simply be scrubbed from the cloud if we all collectively forget to pay our subscription fees. In contrast, a written book has substance. It can be swapped, borrowed and shared. It endures (well up to a point) and is more immune to censorship.
The plan (if this modest proposal stands up) is to self-publish. Given our past sojourns into publishing have been firmly of the dusty academic kind this will be a new adventure for us, but hopefully it might help us reach a bigger audience.
Before writing the book, we thought we should obviously do some marketing. A first step then is to ask our existing audience (you!) what you think.
To help guide us on our merry way we would thus be very grateful indeed if you would be kind enough to have a stab at answering these questions (also, if you have any thoughts on the topics we’ve proposed please write them in a comment):
Also if anyone has an idea for a better title we'd be very happy to hear it!
What I think would be great is if you could not only include your primary articles, but also include the main attacks from the media/science hitmen since your original articles came out, and address those as well. That way we'd basically end up with a guidebook on how to convince the people we care about what the REAL numbers are.
Where WERE the numbers? (past tense)
