Recently an acquaintance (who would fit the description of a someone more vulnerable based on a variety of factors) came down w almost all those symptoms listed for C19: coughing, fatigue, high fever, major stomach issues, trouble breathing. Finally goes to ER (dehydration), "diagnosed" with influenza, Norovirus, AND mononucleosis (!). Not positive for Covid. What would the "diagnosis" (test results) have been 3-4 years ago? Was given steroids and antibiotics. What would they have been given 3-4 years ago (not those)? Is fine now of course. How about 3-4 years ago? How many of those "strange" Covid cases observed by "frontline" Drs in Spring 2020 were a mishmash of commonly occurring pathogens driven by high stress levels and panic in patients? They say they "saw what they saw and it was different." Maybe not.
In New Zealand I have not seen any evidence of a pandemic or new virus. I am severely immune compromised but I never got any respiratory virus and never saw any risk that I would. It was just a normal flu season in nz or whatever you want to call it. So while there may have been a novel virus we never had any excess mortality in 2020 or 2021. It wasn’t until the vaccine rollout that people started getting sick. I actually have the symptoms of long covid including what’s been termed covid tongue since 2020 but it’s not long covid. These are the general symptoms of an immune system that’s struggling to cope and were caused by bone cement used in back surgery. I would love to know why my ears ring and my taste buds don't work right anymore. Where do these palpitations come from. At my worst, when my feet were unnaturally cold, I perspired like a Sumo at weightwatchers. I was damp with sweat. What caused all that?
